Teddy Bears, Tea, and REALLY Big Hats

My friends and I like to do things just because we can do them, so when my friend’s mom invited us to come to a benefit tea party called the Teddy Bear Tea (isn’t that SUCH a cute name!), we were all for it. But it gets better. Not only was she putting on a massive tea party for a good cause (scholarships and educational grants for the local school district), but we got to strut our cute-little-stuff in big ‘ol hats! As in completely old-fashioned, going to the races, straight out of Titanic hats! I have to say that…

Design in the works…

For many of our recent clients, you already know this, and for others that don’t, you are sooo invited to dinner! More and more, Jeff and I have been meeting with our couples in our own home, which is wonderful…and terrifying. We have lived in our cute little homey home for about a year now and it has gone through many, many changes. I’m the kind of girl who (as far as I know!) appreciates good style and great interior design, but when it comes to my own place, it takes a while for me to actually figure out exactly…

SD PUG Shootout: Erin's Pics

A successful entrepreneur very rarely considers themselves as having succeeded. The most distinguished experts always have something new to learn. A good photographer will never be quite good enough.  What a thing to think about. This weekend at the Shootout, I didn’t do much shooting due to logistics (I was keeping everything running together!), but it gave me the chance to step back and watch some very talented photographers consider themselves to be not quite good enough because they came to a fantastic opportunity to learn more than they already know. As I took a moment to breathe in the palacial front room…

SD PUG Shootout: Jeff's Pics

This past weekend Erin and I got a bunch of the folks from the San Diego Pictage User’s Group (SD PUG) together for an awesome afternoon of hanging out, shooting, and learning from one another. One of the coolest things about Pictage is how much they dig fostering a community of photographers and Erin and I have the pleasure of getting to lead the San Diego users group for Pictage! So the question is: What do you get when you take three awesome couples, one amazing home, and 20 crazy photographers? One awesome day of shooting!! The whole idea behind…

Patty & Memo | Engagement

I am constantly blown away by all the amazing couples we get to meet, it’s seriously unreal how every couple who we get to work with is so awesome, so real, and so fun. Patty and Memo are definitely no exception, and I just love these two to death! We met Patty through Alesha & Lane and after we met we found out that we literally live 300 feet away from each other!!! In our condo community, they live directly across from us, and I just think it’s hilarious because for so long Erin and I have joked about what…

Candace & Cory | Engagement

They come here all the time. After a long week of being apart, they come together and breathe together and just be…together. Carrying his guitar as they walk, she laces her finger through his hands, loving the strength that he brings to her busy life. Later, she’ll lean against him and feel his arms move while he strums, lazily. He is so glad that she is in his life. And in a little while, she will be in it for a long time, and not just on these most precious weekends. We got together with this awesome couple last weekend…

Danica & Chris | Engagement!

She had no idea what was happening when the carriage driver pulled over and Chris led her down to the edge of the Seaport Village pier. “Could you take a picture?” He motioned to the driver and handed her his point-and-shoot. Danika leaned into Chris and smiled for a picture. Click! She was unbelievably happy with this man that she longed to spend the rest of her life with. She leaned in closer for another picture, but suddenly Chris was gone. Looking down, there he was, on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand. Click! Neither remember what…

Sushi

Last weekend after shooting Chris & Danica’s awesome engagement session (pictures are going to be posted right above this post) we all decided to go out to dinner since we were having such a fun time together. Naturally, I suggested we go get some food at a local brewery or perhaps some Italian food, because that’s how I roll. Somehow, though we ended up going to Sushi at Ra once Danica and Chris found out that I’d only had sushi one other time in my whole live before, and it was a terrible experience! They were totally determined to change…

We're going to Mars!

I’m so amped because Google just announced a partnership with the Virgin Group to begin a project that’s going to put a human civilization on Mars by 2014. So cool They’re taking applicants, and you can take the initial quiz here. I didn’t pass. This is super cool though, and if anybody is going to do it, you’d better believe it’s going to be Google or Virgin, not those hacks over at NASA, right?
