Danielle and James | Engaged

They clicked instantly. His humor, her smile. They just fit so perfectly together. He made her laugh, she made him sparkle, and their love lights up the room. So when the dessert plate arrived after a fabulous dinner at one of their favorite restaurants, her joy stopped the world in its tracks. Written around the plate were the words, “Will you marry me?” Jeff and I have been so HONORED to get to know Danielle and James through our Pictage User Group meetings. Like us, they photograph weddings together, and these two are fantastic at it! Not only do they…

Gary and May | You're Invited to San Diego!!

I love being a wedding photographer. Its seriously a cool job. What I love most about doing what I do is all of the cool people that we get to meet. For example, Sarah and Thomas are rad people. We took some rad photos for them. And Sarah and Thomas know rad people. Enter Gary. For the past week I’ve been talking with Gary, a friend of Thomas and Sarah’s. He got married back in August in Santa Barbara, and he wants to give his new beautiful wife, May, the most meaningful gift for their first Christmas together. Both of…

More Noah…

I know, I know… more baby pictures!! BUT I am heading back to San Diego tomorrow so I won’t be here in Seattle anymore taking hundreds of pictures of my new little nephew. Noah is officially four days old now and cute as a little newborn button! Lynn and Jared let me play around with Noah and work on my baby shooting skilz. Although I may be biased, December babies are the best. (I was born on December 14) I think the best part of being around Noah is all of the positions that he sleeps in. Every so often…

Little Noah has Arrived!!

Well its official, Jeff and I are the crazy aunt and uncle!! My sister, Lynn, and her husband, Jared, just had their first little boy, Noah Alvaro, yesterday at 1:03pm in Seattle, WA. He weighed in at 8lbs 3 ounces and 21.5 inches long. I flew in to Seattle this past Wednesday to help Lynn and Jared finish all of their preparations – nursery, last minute errands, etc. – but I really didn’t think she would have Noah while I was here (although I was hoping). She was due this next Monday, and most first pregnancies go well past the…

Sarah and Thomas | Day After

He had just bought the ring, but he couldn’t ruin the surprise. Over the next few weeks, whenever the topic of marriage came up, he shrugged it off. He was happy with how things were, he lied. Why did they need to get married? She didn’t know what to think. Confused, Sarah tried to convince herself that he was right. Maybe they didn’t need to get married after all? They could still live happily ever after, right? But she knew in her heart of hearts that she wanted to be his wife and nothing else would do. But one night,…

The Devil Wears Zit Cream

I didn’t get acne until I went to college. By the time I donned my high school graduation robes, I thought I had managed to avoid the facial curse called Teen Acne that had plagued so many of my friends through junior high and high school. Yes, I got zits every once in while during my teen years, but they were nothing to get panicked or insecure about. I thought I was lucky. I thought I had avoided the whole acne dilemma. But somewhere between after-graduation parties and packing for college, my skin got some serious attitude. In the three short…

Aaron and Pam + One | San Diego, CA

I think its the way he makes her smile that I love so much. Pam is GORGEOUS, but when she glances over at Aaron, her smile radiates something genuine and wonderful. He laughs, and she glows. He gives her a kiss, she softens. Their baby girl will forever know how in love her parents were. Jeff and I have known Pam and Aaron for most of our marriage. They are part of our Young Married’s Bible Study that we attend as part of our church, and it has been an instrumental part of our marriage and faith. This group of…

Casa de Youngren Gives Thanks

I think I’m cursed by San Diego. While I was growing up  my mother taught me all of the womanly things that her mother taught had her: how to bake a pie, how to sew a pin cushion, how to heal burn wounds from the oven, the appropriate curse words for the burn wounds, and how to make bread dough rise. And when I learned how to make fresh bread at twelve years old, it became my job at all future Thanksgivings to make the dinner rolls. And they are stinkin’ tasty dinner rolls. But ever since I moved to…
