John and Christie, Part Three | Venice, Italy

***This is the third installment of our Honeymoon Shoot in Venice, Italy, with the beautiful John and Christie. You can see the first installment here, and the second installment here. Enjoy!*** After hours of fun in the Venetian streets during the afternoon, the four of us retreated to our hotels, danced with delight, took a quick siesta, and waited. Every evening, during the magical twenty minutes after sunset, God creates Twilight.  In those few moments after the sun disappears beyond the horizon, the sky reveals the depths of it color spectrum. Every minute reveals a different blue, purple, or indigo,…

Tuesday morning was a good morning. In the days leading up to Tuesday, the wheels that had been steamrolling us through life merged from the express train tracks back to the slow regional line. And if that metaphor didn’t make sense to you, all I mean to say is that life feels back to normal again. On Saturday and Sunday, I actually cleaned the house and went to Costco for real life items and even finished the mountain of laundry that had been staring me down for the past few weeks. I’ve been able to wake up in the mornings…

Refreshing

I saw the video below over on Zack Arias’ blog the other day, and I have to say, it was exactly what I needed to hear. If you’re a photographer and you haven’t watched this video yet, you need to. If you’re not a photographer, you might want to watch it anyway. The ten second version: we fill our lives up with rushing around and looking to the next best thing and spend all out time comparing ourselves to others, while we just miss the stuff that’s important. Thanks, Zack, for such a beautiful piece of work.

John and Christie, Part Two | Venice, Italy

***This is the second installment of our Honeymoon Shoot in Venice, Italy, with the beautiful John and Christie. You can see the first installment here.*** After wandering the alleyways surrounding St. Mark’s Square, we finally made our way to the majestic and picturesque Rialto Bridge that overlooks the Grand Canal in central Venice. Like St. Mark’s Square, this bridge is normally a sea of tourists and shoppers, but we were fortunate to only have a few onlookers that were kind enough to stand behind us during our shoot. Everybody was so nice! I think these are my favorite series from…

Inspiring Progression

The inbox was almost empty. It had taken two days to catch up from a two week absence, but the long list of unanswered had become the answered at exactly 3:30pm. I sighed, stretched, and peeled myself away from my leather chair to heat a burrito for lunch, dropping a rudely awakened Gracie the cat off of my lap. Two microwave minutes later, I plopped back down in front of Outlook, felt Gracie’s sharp nails dig into my thigh as she “jumped” back into my lap, and began to sift through the remaining messages. Delete this, file that, leave until…

John and Christie | Venice, Italy

They’re finally ready!! I know that there have been at least two or three people (and yes, that includes our moms) that have been waiting ever so patiently to see the images from our Honeymoon Shoot in Venice, Italy. It has been the craziest two months of our lives, so I apologize that its taken a few weeks to process the beautiful mountain of images from our Italy trip in January. It has been such a blessing working through these images and we want to thank everybody that was a part of it – especially our gorgeous couple, John and…

Natalie & Chris | San Diego, CA

She glowed from across the room, filling the space between them with rays of warmth. Her eyes sparkled when she said hello, and her smile lingered like a soft perfume when she walked away. Every day she came to work, and Chris’ heart skipped with joy to see the most beautiful girl he had ever known. Even though they worked together, he had to take a chance on these feelings and find out just how incredibly special this girl was. As silly as it may sound, Natalie and Chris melt together, like creamy fondue or warm marshmallows. Its as if…

Promo Video!

Erin and I recently had the priviledge of getting to work with Anton Lorimer of Lorimerworks in the production of our promo video. I can’t even describe the wonderful experience the whole thing was, and it was so fun getting to know Anton through the process – he’s seriously the best in the business! Erin and I have found, especially recently, that more and more of our clients don’t necessarily live in southern California, so we wanted a way to show who we are as people and photographers, and I’m so super impressed with what Anton put together. I really…

Kevin & Laura | Coronado, CA

She couldn’t deny it – Kevin was one of her best friends. She could laugh with him, cry with him, and be completely herself when he was around.  She had known him for years, and they were flawless as co-workers. As she sat at dinner on her date, getting to know the stranger across from her, she couldn’t shake the nagging thought: ‘This would be so much better if it was Kevin sitting across from me.’ As the words sunk slowly into her heart, Laura melted in a way that she had never felt before. All of the reasons why…

John and Christie | Anaheim, CA

Ever since she was a little girl, the church doors would slowly swing open and a beautiful bride would glide down the aisle, guided by a proud father, with joy in her eyes, confidence in her steps, and pure love in her heart. Those doors captivated her, and from the first moment she watched them open, they instilled a sense of timeless romance within her heart. She knew that one day she would stand behind those doors and they would swing open for her. And she knew that the man on the other side of the doors would truly be…

5:00am

My internal clock had had enough and clicked on at 5am this morning. Or to be precise, at 2pm. Or to be exactly precise, at 14:00. As my body lounged in the luxurious softness of our own bed, my rational mind came to the realization that I wasn’t going to get any more sleep, but my other mind, the one I love and cherish and that makes way too many of my decisions, revolted. The blurry dials were not going to change, I wasn’t going to be hungry for breakfast, and it was way to early to be doing anything,…
