Heels vs. Black Friday

I thought it would a good idea to wear heels yesterday. Of all days. My alarm went off at 5:15am, I turned it off and slept until 7:00, and then did something that's been hard to do lately. I took my time getting ready. Instead of rushing through a shower, roughly blow drying my hair and doing my makeup in the car for our next meeting or shoot (don't worry, Jeff drives!), I enjoyed a round of Christmas tunes and slowly took my time to straighten my hair and pick out an outfit. Which is where everything went wrong. I haven't had a hard core shopping trip in a long time, and I wanted to feel cute, so I picked out my comfiest pair of heels and my favorite jeans. I honestly didn't think I would be out shopping for very long...

After about four hours of store jumping at the mall, my feet felt a little tired. But I only had a few more gifts to look for, so I wasn't worried. An hour later, they were feeling a little sore. But I only had two or three stops left to make and then I would be done. Another three hours later, I came limping out of Target, threw my shoes in the back seat of my car, and much to the chagrin of circling drivers looking for parking, I sat and rubbed my toes. My precious, precious toes.

I'm usually not the girl to wear the impractical shoes. I'm the one that defaults to flip-flops and always brings a sweater "just in case," but there's something about working from home that makes me want to sport my cute heels anytime I can get out of the house. By the time I walked through my door after eight hours of gift shopping, my feet were in full rebellion and demanded that I wear comfy slippers for the next week. So in case Jeff asks why I'm going to the grocery store in slippers, you, dear reader, are my witness.

Since Black Friday is now over, its time to pull out our holiday decorations, and a Christmas tornado has officially hit Casa de Youngren - I love it! Jeff will get to come home to twinkling lights and the smell of Cranberry Chutney, and I'm excited to share a little bit of our holiday traditions here on the blog in the next few weeks!

Hugs,

Erin

Jeff - Sweet! Can’t wait to get home and see all the decorations :) Totally my favorite time of year….

s h e r r y - Haha, I applaud your effort. I would’ve totally caved and bought a pair of flats or flip flops. Noo way could I have lasted 8 hours in heels!
