Live Forever (and why I'm a Photographer)

This is why I'm a photographer.

I stumbled upon this commercial a few weeks ago that Kodak put out a while ago, and I really like what the video has to say. To me, it's about photographs and how they cause moments (and more importantly, people) to live forever. There's something so true and real and powerful about clicking that shutter, and taking a picture, and I can't believe I get to call that my job. The idea that the images I get to capture of a couple / baby / family / grandmother / father / brother are images that will live forever is such a cool (and at the same time powerful) thought.

Anyway, check out the video below. It's a few minutes. But I challenge you (if you haven't seen it) to just stop your busyness today and watch it, and think about the photographs in your life, and what they're saying.

Keana Clay - I’m gonna have to go with all the others and thank you for sharing this. It’s beyond awesome. It got me all choked up!

Andi Nicole - WOW. This was an amazing video! Thank you for sharing it with us!

oneshotbeyond - I hadn’t seen this either. It brought me tears. Must keep sharing it…Thanks!

johncalvin - I’ve never seen this video before. It so clearly articulates what I try to convey to people about why I am so passionate about photography. In a seemingly small way a photographer is able to participate in and preserve the life of the people around him or her. This puts the photographer in a position to have a powerful influence in people’s lives. This is a blessing to both the photographer and the people who’s lives are being touched!

Kudos to you two for having the courage and faith to walk out your passion and calling!

Evan Bishop - Thanks Jeff, I hadn’t seen that commercial in a long time. What a great way to start the morning of image editing and blogging. A powerful reminder of what we do, and why.

Ashley Lettich - Great post, great video! Thanks for sharing.
