Teddy Bears, Tea, and REALLY Big Hats

My friends and I like to do things just because we can do them, so when my friend's mom invited us to come to a benefit tea party called the Teddy Bear Tea (isn't that SUCH a cute name!), we were all for it. But it gets better. Not only was she putting on a massive tea party for a good cause (scholarships and educational grants for the local school district), but we got to strut our cute-little-stuff in big 'ol hats! As in completely old-fashioned, going to the races, straight out of Titanic hats! I have to say that this was such a fun experience - I can't remember the last time I went out on such a fashion limb around hundreds of people I don't know. I felt so confident! I mean, that must be why older generations love their hats. You are forced to be confident when your wearing something way bigger than your own head!

So here's some background on the party - all sorts of organizations put together baskets of prizes and each basket had a teddy bear incorporated into it (thus The Teddy Bear Tea). A bunch of them were raffled off while others were put in a silent auction. There was also a live auction for the big rollers in the house. (We "tried" to win a weekend in San Clemente, but were outbid rather quickly...)

On to the pictures. Here's my lovely hat! I absolutely adore it! Disclaimer: All of these photos were taken with my trusty point and shoot. I didn't feel like hauling around my 5D at a dainty tea party!

Here we are! Ready to go inside and strut our stuff with our chins in the air! Plus, we couldn't really see that well since our peripheral vision was completely cut off by the hats, so if we didn't hold our chins high, we wouldn't have made it very far into the banquet hall...

They had the cutest favors - tea bag holders. I am so in love with mine and have already used it a bunch of times.

We DEVOURED the scones! They were yuuuuuummmy!

So guess who won the raffle on the sweetest candle making kit ever?! I totally did! I never win anything!

My friend, Veronica, and her sister, Victoria, also won baskets in the raffle drawings. Aren't our little babies precious?

Thank you Bob and Gail for inviting us to the Tea Party! I can't wait for next year!

Shan - I’m SOOO stinkin’ jealous of you guys! I wish I could have been there too! (And Bekah!) But you all look so beautiful and look like you had a great time! Love you all!=)

Jeff - Oooo oo! Me too!!

Jeff McCue - I’d like to request a candle that smells like the beach, please. :)
