Since we couldn't choose a winner, we had people vote on their favorite submission. So, without further ado, I'd love to congratulate our winner, Jen Van Wyk for her submission, entitled “Abandoned." Big congrats to Jen for a job well done! We LOVED your choice of subject and how you used lighting, focal length, and editing as elements in your story telling of the old abandoned building. Here's her description in her own words:

I had been keeping my eye out for a scene for a week or so, and was wondering where I was going to go when I happened upon this place last Saturday. I was shooting some photos for one of my groom’s bands BOWSER (but more on this later), and they led me to these abandoned buildings in downtown Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (insert photographer flip out here). I knew it was perfect. Lots of old stuff. Lots of falling apart stuff. Lots of stuff in places that don’t make sense.

And below are the images from her winning entry! Go stop by her blog and leave her an awesome comment. As a side note - check out Jen's other photography besides just this contest - she's AWESOME!

For her prize, Jen gets to choose from this fabulous list of prizes from Erin and me:

This was SO FUN! We're totally doing this again...who's in?

-Jeff

Jenn Van Wyk - Thank Erin and Jeff – this was so much fun. I appreciate your kind words, how sweet of you! I will be looking forward to the next competition! :)

s h e r r y - Ooh. Again again! :) Because of finals/papers, I couldn’t do it this time, but I would love to!

Nathan Cashion - Do another one soon! I had a great spot scouted out, but found out at the last minute they charge $25 for photographers. I should of known it would have been worth it anyway.

David Bjorgen - I’m in for the next one. I just didn’t have the time to enter a submission on this one.
