Be a Timeless Bride (With a Trendy Twist)

I recently posted six tips for styling your groom for your wedding day (thanks for all of the comments and blog love everybody!) and it garnered some questions about what brides can do to create a fabulous look for THEIR photos. As in, what makes the biggest difference in the way a bride looks? Well, to be completely honest, I can only tell you what I think makes a beautiful bride, so this whole thing is going to be based on my own personal taste and style. But after photographing a hundred brides or so over the past six years,…

Six Irresistible Tips for Styling Your Groom

Last fall, Jeff and I photographed the small, intimate ceremony of Eric and Rachel. When I say small, I mean that it was the couple and their parents. And it was awesome (check out the beautiful La Jolla ceremony). While Rachel was planning her wedding, I very much became her wedding consultant – we dished about locations, chatted over the value of buying boutonnières or not, and picked a time of day that worked best for photos. We usually don’t have so much input on the main logistics of a wedding day, so it got me thinking – what’s my…

The Youngrens Behind the Scenes in 2011

Happy day two of 2012! We’ve been in Orlando with Jeff’s family since Christmas Eve, which means that 2012 has so far been whole lot of poolside sun with a ton of Grandma’s cooking and a side of sleeping in. Not too shabby. I hope you enjoyed these two posts featuring our 2011 couples’ favorite images – they were some seriously emotional posts! But we’re switching gears today from emotional to ‘dear-lord-is-that-what-I-really-look-like?’ with our recap of 2011 with this little golden nugget of a slideshow. It’s all of the images that Jeff and I captured of each other throughout the…

Our Couples’ Favorite Images of 2011
The Wedding

We’ve gotten so many sweet responses from yesterday’s blog post saying how amazing and inspiring it was to hear directly from our 2011 couples about their favorite engagement images. But just wait – if you thought yesterday was emotional, you better grab another box of tissues and refill your tea because our couples have opened their hearts with their favorite wedding images and totally made me cry like a baby. As the responses started coming in, there are two stories that began to stand out to me with the favorites that were chosen. Number One: The First Look. Whether it’s…

L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding, Part Two
Paul and Siri

Welcome back to Part Two of Paul and Siri’s epic Indian/western wedding at L’Auberge Del Mar. After the incredible east-meets-west ceremony filled with lots of tears and tons of swoon-worthy moments, we headed to the cliffs for a few moments with Paul and Siri. 17 people love this   5 people love this One of my favorites of Paul. L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding, Part One
Paul and Siri

Paul can be a thinker, and because he’s a thinker he comes off as pretty quiet. Not shy or closed off or cold – just quiet and observant. He’s a warm, joking guy once you strike up a conversation, but only if that conversation is off to side and not in front of people. So you can imagine how nervous he was to stand in front of everybody at the ceremony – to show his inward emotions outwardly – but that was the only thing he was nervous about. It wasn’t the marrying part. It wasn’t the friends and family…

Queen Mary Wedding, Part Two
Justin and Taryn

Part Two of Justin and Taryn’s art deco wedding on The Queen Mary is just as fun, romantic, and golden age Hollywood fabulous as Part One. I loved Taryn’s whole look that she put together for the wedding. The simple a-line dress, the birdcage veil, the feather hairpiece, the hot red lips, and the chunky fab jewelry. But not only was Taryn stunning, the whole bridal party looked the part with enough Hollywood glam to go around for all of us! 11 people love this   13 people love this   11 people love this We loved incorporating The Queen…

Queen Mary Wedding, Part One
Justin and Taryn

You know those people that should have been born in a different era? Justin and Taryn should be living in the 1930′s. They both love art deco and their hearts totally vibe with the old Hollywood glamour of the day – Taryn especially. The long necks, the chunky diamonds, the wispy feathers, and the strong lines – it’s as if their hearts were born in that bygone era of golden age Hollywood instead of the present. But I must admit, I don’t blame them for loving that period of American style so much. It is, after all, an era of ultimate…

Villanova University Wedding, Part Two
Mike and Sarah

If you’ve been keeping up with The Youngrens on Facebook, you’ll know that Jeff and I have been SO EXCITED to share the images from Mike and Sarah’s Villanova University wedding in Philly. We made some of our most favorite photographs EVER at this wedding. Not only were we so inspired by the east coast and it’s timeless romance, historic architecture, golden fall colors, and devotion to tradition, Mike and Sarah’s deep connection and pure JOY were breathtaking. After their Catholic ceremony at St. Thomas of Villanova, we took a few moments to stroll around the walkways at the university,…
