John and Christie | Disneyland!

As she slowly opened the ring box, tiny little hearts glinted back at her. Her jaw dropped and her heart pounded. Tears sprang to her eyes and she looked in disbelief at John.

"But how?" she cried. It was exactly the ring she had always dreamed of, but never in her wildest dreams did she think that it could be hers.

Being in full-time youth ministry, John's life is devoted to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to youth all across Mexico. While he loves what he does, he's never considered himself good marriage material - constantly going into dangerous areas, not much fame or prestige and no money, not even for a ring. I think John himself said it best, "When I first spoke to Christie about possibly getting married, the only thing I had to offer her was a life trying to live for God. She responded with an e-mail where she had researched rings for around $300 telling me that was all she needed, that a life lived for God was all she wanted."

After months of saving, John decided to buy a ring with what little he had. Nobody knew his plans, but the day before he was to go shopping two separate groups of people sent him money telling him to buy a ring. John counted the money. God had given him the exact amount he needed to buy the ring that Christie had always wanted! Little did Christie know that by giving up her dreams, God would give her so much more.

John and Christie are long time friends of Jeff and I and when John told Jeff about his plans to ask Christie to marry him, we both couldn't contain our excitement. Christie has worked at Disneyland for nine years in various roles, and much of John and Christie's relationship has developed in the Happiest Place on Earth. Just ask John how many hours he's spent hanging out and watching Christie work - he knows where to find every outlet in the Magic Kingdom for his laptop! When they asked if we could do their engagement session there, we were ecstatic!

John and Christie know Disneyland so well, that they will take pictures on their phones and make each other guess where it is. So I thought we'd play our own version of their little game. See if you can identify where we took these shots! (Answers are the end of the post)

Everywhere we stopped had special significance to these two. They would always come here to swing dance for hours.

Christie is the kind of girl that we could ask to rock it, and she wouldn't disappoint! I love when a bride isn't afraid to rock the heels!

After the last of the sun faded, John and Christie let us play in the dwindling light. I love how this one turned out!

Evan D'Angeles - Amazing shots of my dear friends John & Christie! These look like Disney Dream Resort shots…beautiful!

Erin - @ Mark – we didn’t have any trouble with the Disney Security – we just made sure we were courteous to the guests and it was all good. We took pictures a few times right in front of the Disney Police and they just kind of hung out and smiled…

Mark Leonard - How did you avoid getting kicked out by the Disney police? I have an engagement shoot at Disney on Jan. 17.

Jeff - Thanks ladies! :) We had so much fun with them! There were actually tons of people around, we just got lucky in a lot of our shots so it looked pretty empty! A lot of times, people stopped and got out of our way and took pictures too…gotta love the tourists!!

Leeka - WOW! John’s hair do reminds me of Edward’s from Twilight movie! What a striking couple- they look amazing! You did such a great job at capturing their love and passion for each other!

joyful weddings and events - Where are all the people? :)

Lisa - This is by far my favorite post! I loved EVERY single image, especially the one right after sunset.
….so great you guys!
