About a week ago, Jeff and I asked for cool couples to volunteer their time and, well, dashing good looks for a little private workshop that we did for a local photographer (more on this later). I really have to say a huge THANK YOU to the awesome response that we received. There were so many amazing couples that contacted us, and we had such a difficult time choosing. In the end, we chose Matt and Abigail, one of the sweetest couples we've ever met. Matt, or "D'Port" as we call him, has actually been a really good friend of ours ever since he and Jeff worked on the high school summer staff at Hume Lake Christian Camps when Jeff and I were dating. In fact, we realized during this session that Matt was one of the first people that Jeff talked to about "dabbling in wedding photography" after buying his first DSLR!
Anyhoo, after we picked Matt and Abby for our session, Matt called us up and asked if he could propose during the photo shoot! Apparently this shoot was the perfect timing and Abby would be totally surprised. Needless to say, we were stoked! Because there are so many cute pictures that I want to share, I thought I'd break up this session into two posts. Part One is the beautiful proposal.
We decided to have Matt propose right at the beginning of the session, mostly to get rid of any nerves that Matt would have, but also because they would be super excited and relaxed the rest of the time. So we did a few setups to loosen them up, and they were doing awesome.

Then we did this little set-up which is a Youngren staple. Here is Abby seconds before Matt popped the question. Can you see the anticipation in his face?

I snuck around behind them while Jeff kept Abby's attention, and when she turned around, Matt got down on one knee.

She was so excited!

I think the first thing that Abby said when she saw Matt kneel was a super excited, "Right now!! Are you serious?!" She had no idea and was THRILLED!

Wahoo! You're engaged!

So then we got to do a real engagement session! I'll post tons more images tomorrow, but here's a quick sneak peek. We had an amazing time running around Del Mar and these two were up for anything!

Until Tomorrow,
