At the time of this posting, Jeff and I will be hootin' and hollerin' at this year's WPPI. For those of you that don't know what WPPI is, it's an enormous conference in Las Vegas for wedding and portrait photographers.
I totally know what you're thinking right now. You're thinking, 'Seriously? They have a conference for everything these days!'
And you're SO RIGHT. I was googling the other day for writing and blogging conferences, and I found a conference for people who blog about wine and cheese. Which would be the week after the conference for people who blog about trains. Riiiiiiiiiight.
But I really can't make too much fun of these blogging conferences because I'm going to a conference for wedding and portrait photographers (and I may have signed up for the wine and cheese one...). See, WPPI isn't a conference for ALL photographers, like super stylin' fashion photographers or jet-setting commercial peeps that show up in cool magazines and on billboards all the time. Nope, it's just for those of us that decide to schlep around 80 pounds of gear at formal events every weekend and run after kids saying, "Would you puh-leeeeeeeze smile for the camera!!"
And there's something like 15,000 people like us that attend every year.
But in reality, WPPI is a hoot. I mean, you wouldn't think it at first (or ever), but wedding and portrait photographers are DA BOMB. I mean, we're actually a group of individuals that have chosen to spend our careers hanging out around other individuals during the best time of their lives. So we're actually a group of people that get pretty high on joy. And fun. And love. And laughter. So when we get together, that's pretty much what we do. We dance the night away, we give each other hugs, and we laugh until our bodies hurt.
I totally have the best job - and the best industry - in the world.

Here's to another year in Vegas everybody!
Hugs,
Erin
