San Diego PUG with Jared Platt Tonight!

A year and a half ago, Jeff opened Lightroom and sat me down in front of it. I just about had a heart attack. 'B-b-but why me?' I thought. 'Jeff is already an expert, why should I have to learn this photo processing stuff?' My vision became blurry, my chest felt like a vacuum, and Gracie stared at us in wide-eyed kitty wonder as she rolled around on the floor. Jeff had been processing all of our images for-like-ever, but now that I was full-time with the business, I had to start taking on some of the post-processing load, especially if I was going to be in charge of our infant yet flourishing blog.

But I was not the technical one in the family. I knew this, Gracie knew this. Why didn't Jeff know this?

Besides, my hands were clammy, and clammy, shaky hands do not mix with color correction. Right?

With gentle words and a calming hand on my back (so that I couldn't turn and run), Jeff placed my fingers on the keyboard and pushed 'D'. "Erin, meet Develop Module. Develop Module, meet Erin. You two are going to spend a lot of time together."

A few weeks later we started outsourcing our color correction to the fabulous crew at Colorati, but that didn't let me off the hook whatsoever. I still had to learn the ins and outs of Lightroom if I was going to survive in this photo biz, and I so wish I had someone like Jared Platt to help me out! But I didn't, so I learned the old-fashioned hands-on-Google-search-Lightroom-handbook sort of way. While I learned everything I need to know and I feel completely proficient in Lightroom now, learning from a master could have made everything so much easier. And even today, I love seeing new workflows and learning about new functionalities within Lightroom, so whether you're a beginner or pro, you cannot miss out on this opportunity to sit down with Lightroom guru, Jared Platt, at our PUG tonight. I would have lept at this chance a year ago!

For all of the details and to RSVP, hit up our PUG page here, but here's the synopsis for tonight:

Jared will discuss some of the key elements in his post production workflow and the philosophy behind them which, if followed, will cut your post wedding workflow in half. Jared uses very unique and efficient methods in Adobe Lightroom to speed through the process of selecting and adjusting his images. Whether you are a new or seasoned photographer, you will benefit from this discussion.
