It's a quiet and steady kind of love between families. It's spoken in languages that only a family member can understand. The warm touch from Mom and the strong hands of Dad make everything safe and free. Walking across the street and through the crowds of people isn't so scary when you're following behind the footsteps of your big sis. And nothing can hurt you when everybody is nearby. Not even the crashing waves of the ocean. Or the firetrucks whizzing by. You're at your strongest when everyone is together, and together is all you'll ever need.

We met up with the Tim, Joy, Geneva, and Logan in a little town just outside of Santa Cruz called Capitola for their family portrait session, and this town fit this fun and colorful session perfectly! We fell in love with this family, especially the sweet kids, Geneva and Logan.
An old friend, Norm, from Hume Lake Christian Camps painted a longboard for Tim years ago, and I'm so glad Tim brought it along. Norm is not only a FANTASTIC painter (check out his work - you'll love it!), but he actually officiated our wedding four years ago! He is also Jessica's father of Brandon and Jessica's Hume Lake wedding last summer, and it was one of our favorite weddings of the year. As we say at Casa de Youngen, you da best Norm!

Jeff let Logan be a mini photographer for a few minutes and I think Logan just about died from excitement! The image on the right is Logan's point of view.

Joy had the *perfect/amazing/absolutely adorable* idea of bringing along balloons for the session. Just throw in that creativity with her rockin' boots, and I officially think Joy is the most adorable and stylish mom in the world now!

I spent a little time with just Tim and Joy while Jeff played on the beach with Geneva and Logan.
We saved the beach for the end of the session because the kids were SO EXCITED, and they definitely earned some play time after standing still for so long!
For the last little bits of light, we climbed up to the pier after all of the daytime crowds had left.
Even after all of us adults were exhausted, the kids were still going strong! Ha!

The last activity of the day - releasing the balloons. Oh yes. These kids were excited.
Tim, Joy, Geneva, and Logan: You guys are fantastic people and you have such a wonderful family! Your kinds hearts and love for each other were so amazing for us to see! I hope you enjoyed your day in Capitola, and hopefully we'll see you guys on our next trip north!
