Moniker Warehouse Wedding, Part Three
Jason and Carissa

We’ve made it to the third and final installment of Jason and Carissa’s Great Gatsby themed wedding. After the ceremony at the vintage Hollywood themed Lafayette Hotel, we headed down to the east village in downtown San Diego for their reception at the Moniker Warehouse, a warehouse-style event space with just enough character to give a rustic vibe to any party, but with plenty of opportunity to transform the space into your own personalized affair. Jason and Carissa truly decked out every corner of the warehouse, infusing the rooms with their stylish personalities with everything from pearls, books, mason jars, chalkboards, crates,…

Lafayette Hotel Wedding, Part Two
Jason and Carissa

I’ve been bouncing up and down in my seat all morning just waiting to publish Part Two of Jason and Carissa’s fabulous Great Gatsby themed wedding at the Lafayette Hotel. This happenin’ hotel in University Heights has got boatloads of style and was the perfect fit for Jason and Carissa’s quirky vintage vision for their ceremony. With upside down umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, a mix of colorful eclectic chairs for guest seating, and a love-seat-plus-barstool combo for the wedding party to gather around, the ceremony became a whimsical space welcoming guests into a cozy celebration. 2 people love this…

Lafayette Hotel Wedding, Part One
Jason and Carissa

For both Jason and Carissa, their wedding day was a long time coming. Each of them has a compelling life story that will make you say ‘wow’ – they’ve been through a lot as independent and confident individuals. Because of that, they have a tight-knit protective group of friends around them, so when it would come time for Jason and Carissa to fall in love, it was going to be hard to live up to the high standards of this community who would only accept the very best. When Jason and Carissa came together, though, I think everyone agreed that…

Picking an Epic Engagement Session Location
Four Helpful Tips

I need to take a moment to brag on our couples… we have the most sentimental, caring, thoughtful, and selfless individuals in the world and  having the opportunity to share in their journeys and tell their stories is what makes this job fulfilling. And when Jeff and I can not only hear their hearts but translate their inner selves into a photograph for others to appreciate, our job becomes much more than fulfilling. It becomes a passion. When Sheena suggested that we shoot their engagement session top of the AT&T Center’s helipad in downtown Los Angeles, it wasn’t necessarily because…

Downtown San Diego Engagement, Part Two
Jason and Carissa

Jeff and I have been shooting from rooftops quite a bit lately and today we get to feature Jason and Carissa’s engagement session on top of the St. James Hotel! I love when a couple chooses a location for their engagement session that is both beautiful AND meaningful. The rooftop of the St. James Hotel has always been a special place for city-lover Carissa. For her, the bustle and noise of the city isn’t distracting – it’s incredibly relaxing. So sitting above the streets on the St. James rooftop was always a mental and spiritual retreat where she could go…

Downtown San Diego Engagement, Part One
Jason and Carissa

Jason couldn’t figure out how to get Carissa’s attention. Her smile lit up his heart in a way that he had never felt before, but she was coordinating the mission trip he was participating in, so he couldn’t mess this up. But why did she always so awkwardly ignore him? She couldn’t help but feel a crush building for the unbelievably cute guy that was going on the missions trip. While she was a charming and fun girl in everyday life, all sense of proper social interaction seemed to abandon her when it came to a guy she liked, especially…
