They followed the warm trail of candles while holding hands, meandering along the driveway towards the golden lights of the house up ahead. Soft music lingered in the air, dancing ever so lightly through the garden pathways and down the driveway, mingling with with the scent of lavender and cut grass. Sean leaned in for a kiss; Stephanie sighed with pure happiness. They had been so patient for this day to come and all of their friends and family were there to join in the celebration. Later, the sun would disappear behind the house and the beautiful ebb and flow of laughter would grow deeper. But for now, Sean took Stephanie in his arms and vowed to always love her more than he did on this day.
Sean and Stephanie's wedding brought so much joy to our hearts. They are two incredibly blessed people that are surrounded by a community of people that love them to death. It was truly inspiring to see the unbreakable bonds of friendship that exists between Sean and Steph's friends and family. Jeff and I can only hope to be surrounded by so many amazing people someday too!
Steph and Sean were married at the First Baptist Church in Old Town Pasadena, and they held the reception at the Stephanie's parents' amazing house in Montrose just a few miles away. Chris Clark of Extraordinary Events coordinated the day and we were blown away by the gorgeous event that he put together. But first, some favorite images...

Sean and Steph chose to do a First Look, and it was such a sweet moment! It also gave us tons of time to get a bunch of fabulous portraits not only with Steph and Sean, but with the entire bridal party.
The flowers were done by Steph's wonderful family friends at Crescenta Valley Flower Mart. They turned out so classic and fresh. I loved them!
Sean and Stephanie made our job so easy. They weren't afraid to just love each other in front of our cameras. They were fantastic!
I love this portrait that Jeff grabbed of Sean. He's one handsome guy!
We found a perfect little nook in the church courtyard with some warm light and beautiful colors.
They're married! I love this series!
Steph's parents transformed their already beautiful backyard into a gorgeous garden reception, complete with hanging lanterns, three bars and buffets, seating for almost 300 people, and Stephanie's grandma's famous homemade tamales. Amazing!
But the place really came alive after the sun went down. If there's one thing I highly recommend, its to invest in beautiful lighting for your reception. Jeff grabbed this shot in the 30 minutes after the sun went down and captured all of the deep blues and purples in the twilight sky that our eye can't see naturally. So beautiful!
Since the toasts took place in almost complete darkness, they switched on an enormous flood light for the guests to see. Although it wasn't the most ideal lighting situation, I love that we got the opportunity to capture some really unique toast pictures. I love this one I caught of Stephanie's dad. Richard, you're my hero!
The beautiful first dance.
It was too dark to really see detailed facial expressions while we were shooting, so when I came across this image that I caught, I definitely teared up!
The rest of the night was a PARTAY! The dance floor was packed until 1am - that's the beauty of holding a reception in your own backyard, you get to leave whenever you want! A huge thank you goes to Sean's good friend Chris for keeping the party hopping all night. He was a fantastic DJ!
Sean and Stephanie: Jeff and I feel like better people just for knowing you two. Seriously. Thank you for your pure love for each other and for your willingness to love so many other people as well. Have a great time in Maui and we're totally down for a Villa barbecue at any time!
Hugs,
Erin

Emma - Hey Jeff and Erin! This is so funny…I found your blog about 2 weeks ago and poured through all your pages..you two are fantastic photographers!! I was on my cousins Facebook page and saw pictures from a wedding she was in and was wondering who the photographer was…she was tagged in an album and it was you two! Little did I know that my cousin was in this wedding as a bridesmaid! That is so random!! In the picture with Stephanie and her bmaids, she is the second from Stephanie’s left…its so funny when a totally random thing happens like this- anyways..after all that blabbering..you two rocked it out! Awesome wedding!!
Kay Beaton - Wow – I love these photos! What a beautiful bride & beautiful venue! I love the dancing photos…..
Bethany Murphy - You guys rock! Seriously, I am so glad I get to be your friend… really though, thank you for letting me be your friend

Cantwells - Wow…made me want to get married all over again and have you two photograph it. We are part of the group from out of town, and would LOVE it if you posted more on your blog! Nice work, what a wonderful gifting from the Lord you have!
Ron - Thanks for having a site to view these pictures! Yesterday while looking at books and magazines in the Singapore Borders Bookstore, a “bride to be” was flipping pages of the “Brides” magazines. I provided her the link and she pulled up these wedding pictures on her laptop and started crying! She was so excited and amazed to see “real American wedding pictures” instead of the pictures that she had been looking at in the magazines. People over here in SE Asia are curious to understand what weddings are really like in the US, and your postings of these pictures are now helping this couple with wedding, reception and decorating and photography ideas. They loved seeing the Chinese hanging lanterns at the reception! They loved the memories that you have captured for Steph and Sean – and now that you are also creating for them and their friends in Singapore and China!
Jim Collins - Jeff & Erin,
To most people on this special evening I was just Richard’s friend Jim. I’ve known Steph since she was a child (literally have at least 50 pictures of her up around the house), and knew from the first time she brought Sean home that he was special.
You also know me as the CEO of Pictage, and this was the first wedding I’ve been to since I took this great new job.
I’d have to say this to you, really in both capacities. You guys really have a special gift. These images are great, not simply because you’re great technicians, but because you give people permission to relax in your presence, You weren’t simply shooting the event, you were a part of the event. Steph and Sean didn’t tolerate your presence, they LOVED being with you and sharing this day with you and knowing that what you were doing was a gift they’d celebrate for the rest of their lives.
It was a special evening and we were all blessed. You were a part of that blessing. We’re privileged to know you and to have had your company and we’re more privileged now to have these perfect memories of such a special day.
Most Sincerely,
Jim Collins
Alyssa Lang - Gorgeous! Especially love the backlit toast image.
stan cross - wow guys. seriously – these are incredible. When you see how certain weddings are put together, and then how it’s captured by the photographer, you sometimes just know that all the right people came together for a very memorable event. this looks like one of those. So glad you guys were there to get these shots.
