Lacey admits that when she wants to say something important, she can talk for a while. She has a sweet heart with an expressive upbeat attitude that always sees the greener side of life, so when it came time to write her vows, the first version went on for a few pages. She realized she needed to cut it down to the core of what she wanted to say.
During the ceremony, facing the love of her life in front of their friends and family after emotional speeches and meaningful traditions, Lacey came to the end of her vows, stopped short, smiled at Eric and said, “You know, what I’m really trying to say is that I just want to have a really great life with you so I’m gonna be really nice to you and love you a lot.”
Which is the core of what everyone wants to say to the one we love. I watched all of us in the audience turn, give the person snuggled next to us a sweet smile, and allow a tear to fall down our cheeks knowing that Lacey spoke so plainly the truth of what all of us are trying to say at every moment of this life we get to live together.
“I’m just gonna love you a lot.”
Eric and Lacey are near and dear to our hearts because we met them at Lacey’s sister’s city chic wedding at Cafe Pinot two years ago and fell deeply in love with their entire family. In keeping with her family’s impeccable sense of style and creativity, Lacey and Eric’s day was all about sustainability – not just to be nice to the planet but so that the precious items and memories of their wedding day would last past the midnight hour. They borrowed precious items like her veil and heirloom jewelry, designed florals made entirely out of re-plantable succulents, and gave small glass mason jars of soil planted with basil seeds as favors for guests to take home. Toss in the countless emotional moments and the sweet love between Eric and Lacey and we have the kind of day that can’t help but make you smile!
The First Look brought tears to all of our eyes! We got to work with Jared and Danielle of Side by Side Cinema and all of us got…well…verklempt!
You know how everyone says that your flowers will just die the next day after the wedding? In her eternally positive attitude, Lacey knew hers could last, so she had her florist design sustainable bouquets completely out of succulents and build them so that they could be planted the next day and grow! Lacey was so excited to plant a bridesmaid garden in honor of each girl. *LOVE*
A favorite from the day. So sweet!
I can’t get enough of Eric’s colorful look with his grey summer suit and plaid bow-tie. Plus, Eric tossed in a pair of spectacular socks – so perfect!
A girl doesn’t get any more beautiful than this. Love the simple diamond necklace from Eric’s family and side swept updo. Plus, the feather detailing on her dress is beyond fabulous.
Ummmmm… riiiiight?? How fun is this??
The girls chose matching top buns to pull together an elegant look with their mismatched dresses.
And the guys chose matching ties with mismatched socks.
FAVE!!
I loved the whimsical stationary throughout the day. They wrote a Mad Lib for guests to fill out and leave as a token for the couple and the ceremony programs were nothing short of cute.
Time to walk down the aisle!
Lacey and Eric incorporated a few speeches into their ceremony which made the whole thing super personal and emotional.
Married!
There’s a whole ‘nother day of moments, details, and gorgeous images from Lacey and Eric’s wedding at the Turnip Rose Promenade in Costa Mesa, so we’ll see you right back here at the bloggy-blog tomorrow!
Hugs,
Erin
