Al and Maria didn’t have to see each other before their ceremony. Because of the timing of the church, they had plenty of time in between the ceremony and the reception for photos, so it wasn’t necessary – for logistics at least.
But when I talked to Al and Maria about this, letting them know that they could decide either way, Maria instantly answered that she definitely wanted to do a First Look. It would be a special moment that she didn’t want to miss.
And when Al did turn around on the wedding day and saw his beautiful bride, it became so clear that these two made the right decision. They sunk into each other’s arms instantly, his smile grew softer, and her eyes lit up, and their shoulders both relaxed with joy and contentment.
It was like the day they first met in Little Italy. They didn’t know each other quite yet, but they did know that they somehow fit.
It was like the day Al asked her to be his wife on a day of wine tasting. His smile grew softer and her eyes lit up when she said, “Yes!” to the man of her dreams.
And I’m certain that it will be the same decades from now, when they have grown old but their love is still young – their shoulders relaxed with joy and contentment, and they will know that together, they still perfectly fit.
Al and Maria are the sweetest souls that chose to get married at The Immaculata – a gorgeous church at the University of San Diego – and then held a breathtaking reception at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse with a full view of the city skyline. Their big families were central to the day and they celebrated with their friends from all parts of both of their lives. It was so fun seeing their two communities come together and blend so perfectly!
I love how Al and Maria chose such a classic feel for their wedding day from top to bottom. From the soft color palette to Maria’s seriously gorgeous gown to Al’s black tie look – it all felt perfectly clean and classic in the most beautiful way possible!
Part Two of Al and Maria’s wedding has loads of goodness coming your way! We spent some time photographing even more couple portraits of these two lovelies, then headed over to Tom Ham’s Lighthouse for the chic reception! And just wait until you see Maria’s reception dress… LOVE!
Hugs,
Erin
