Scripps Seaside Forum Wedding, Part One |Jason and Kathy

Kathy almost wasn’t accepted as a chemistry tutor that semester at Berkeley. There wasn’t the exact slot open that she applied for, but the director really wanted her in the program. She was smart, ambitious, and wholehearted.

So Kathy agreed to a slightly different type of tutoring, and she was in. And thank goodness, too, because a cute guy named Jason was also a chemistry tutor that semester…

Nearly eight years later, these two chemistry tutors-turned-surgeon-turned-neuroscience-researcher said “I do” while overlooking the sparkling ocean in their hometown of San Diego.

These past years of dating have held a lot of life for these two. From undergrad and med school to surgical rotations and PhD research, they’ve not only chased their demanding dreams together, but have leaned their hearts on one another the entire time. They’ve cheered and cried and laughed and supported in the midst of all that has been thrown their way, and their wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum was no different.

Ever since we photographed their engagement session at Berkeley last year (one of my FAVORITE sessions of the year!), we’ve known that their wedding would be full of HEART. They chose their director of the tutoring program where they met to officiate the ceremony, and they gave each other gifts that made us all burst into tears! Jason made Kathy a tearful and hilarious storybook of their relationship, while Kathy gave Jason a book of love letters. Swoon-fest!

Melissa of I Do… Weddings and Events designed and coordinated a flawless day and Organic Elements brought Kathy’s floral vision to life. A Toast to Beauty made Kathy and the girls look absolutely flawless and VG Donut & Bakery delighted guests with their to-die-for donuts!
