Creative Rising Episode 104
[INTERVIEW EPISODE]
Do you overwork?
Shay Cochrane would say it’s harder to admit than we think. In an industry where fear, distraction, and social validation drive us to spend more time at our laptops, it’s more important than ever for creativepreneurs to prioritize what truly matters.
- How are we spending our time?
- What will matter when we look back on our lives?
- Is balance even possible?
Even though she’s a serial entrepreneur that’s hard-wired to achieve, Shay runs her two businesses in only 16 hours a week so that she can do what she truly loves – being a wife of 14 years to her entrepreneur husband and a mom to two little girls.
Learn how she does it, why she does it, and why it matters in this episode.
About Shay:
After eight years as a wedding and portrait photographer, Shay felt her passion and creativity beginning to wane. After a light bulb moment in Home Goods (of all places!), she made the (almost) overnight decision to jump head first into the world of styling and product photography. She deleted 8 years of wedding photography off of her website, landed her first commercial client and has never looked back.
In 2013, she created the SC Stockshop as the first styled stock photography shop of its kind and inadvertently launched an entire “styled stock” industry! In 2017, she expanded the brand with Social Squares, a membership-based subscription providing styled stock imagery specifically for social media.
