“I sought him whom my soul loves… and when I found him, I held him, and would not let him go.” (Song of Solomon)
Koree chose these words to be read during her ceremony with Chris, and she meant every word. Because for these two, getting married isn’t just about finding a lifelong partner to share your days with. Getting married is about committing with your soul’s partner to further your legacy – together.
For Jeff and me, there are weddings that beat with our same heartbeat, step into our same lockstep, and flow with our same flow in every way possible. And this was one of them.
I love that Chris’ grandfather helped Chris get ready on the morning of his wedding, and that he wore a perfectly tailored tartan coat. I adore that Koree carried a family bible down the aisle that women in her family have carried on their wedding day for generations. I love the scripture passages they chose and that they said “I do” at the chapel at The Bishop’s School, where Koree was educated before heading off to college. And finally, I just love that everything about this breathlessly timeless wedding day at The Lodge at Torrey Pines made our classic Youngren hearts come alive in every way possible.
A huge thanks goes out to the dream team of vendors in Jennifer Cole Florals, The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Quixotic Weddings, and Michael Tiernan of Still Listening Productions. But an especially grand thanks goes to Susanne Duffy of Crown Weddings, who crafted a magically flawless day for a magically flawless couple.
