What We Love: TOMS Shoes

I wrote about my first pair of TOMS shoes a few years ago here on the blog when they were shiny and new (and the polka dots were still purple), but after a few years of taking these things around the world, they’ve lost just a little bit of their, um, luster.

In other words, they’re gross. And I need a new pair. Stat.

TOMS are my favorite kind of shoes to travel with. They weigh nothing, you can squish them into any suitcase or bag without worrying about ruining their shape, and they’re the perfect closed-toe option for random hikes through jungles, rivers, or not so clean third world streets. It’s like having the comfort of flip-flops when you need to cover up your toes. Besides, who wouldn’t want to buy from a company that gives a pair of shoes to a child in need with every purchase? It makes me walk just a little bit taller in my new pair of shoes.

I’ve been wearing my current TOMS all week here in St. Lucia and I’ve finally decided that it might be time to give up on my faded brown polka dots. So I’m officially on the hunt for a new pair. I fell in love with Julie’s wedges during her engagement session, but I’m still wavering between the new style and color that I want to get. I’ve narrowed it down to these options – should I go with a neutral grey to match any outfit? Or should I go bright and colorful? And there’s alway the option of glitter  glam black… Help!

But whatever pair I end up choosing, nothing will replace the layers of dirt, sweat, mud, and miles that my current pair have endured from it’s travels around the world. That’s gonna be hard to give up…

Hugs,
Erin
