Downtown San Diego Portrait Session |The Higgins Family

We NEVER do this. I mean, like, ever.

But you’ll see in just one sweet second why I’m making an exception in the rule of blog law in Youngren-land.

Jeff and I will photograph lovely baby, maternity, and family portraits for our past couples, but since it’s not our particular specialty, I don’t usually blog about it here. We feature weddings, engagements, and anniversary sessions. That’s it.

But then walks in Team Higgins. They told me that they love urban architecture. That they love anime, the beach, and art museums. That their daughter Emma has blue hair and is studying design in LA, and their son Ethan is a braniac that’s into science and is building his own computer. They love coffee, Disneyland, and each other.

And yes, they do love each other. When so many families are disconnected from one another, these four showed up to our session and encouraged each other. They laughed together, they were completely authentic, and they were grounded in their identities.

Families like this should be celebrated around the world, which is why I’m posting their sweet faces today. This was the kind of session that makes my heart explode with joy!

Enjoy this beautiful family and our time we spent together in downtown San Diego!

Team Higgins: GUYS. You nailed it. Like super totally nailed, and Jeff and I were honored to meet the four of you. Never lose your sweet kindness towards each other and always have one another’s backs like you did with us. It was beautiful and refreshing to see, and we were thrilled to capture this time in your lives for you!

Hugs,
Erin

We teach photographers to build life-giving businesses that they absolutely love.

About Us

We're Jeff & Erin

We’re Jeff and Erin Youngren – and it’s our mission to help you thrive not just as a wedding photographer, but as a business owner. It’s time to set aside the stress and comparison of a hustle mindset, and build a life-giving business instead.

We met in college, got married, and started corporate jobs before we discovered (and fell in love with) wedding photography. But like many creative entrepreneurs, we were booking anything we could, strapped to our laptops and living dangerously close to burnout.

So we dug in and learned how to build a thriving business that supports our dream life – instead of a joyless business that runs a stressed-out life.

Today, we photograph only 10 Dreamie weddings per year, but we also run two other wedding brands plus a commercial studio in San Diego, CA. And we do it by only working the hours that fit into our life. The other hours? We spend those living a joyful life raising our two beautiful sons, James and Samuel.

hugs,

Jeff and Erin

Central Park Anniversary Session |Jon and Amy

Jon and Amy said 'I do' at a peaceful vineyard outside of Sacramento, CA, in 2012. They were college sweethearts from Harvard with giant futures in front of them. At the time, Amy told me that she had been nervous about marriage up until that point. She wasn't sure...
