When you fall in love, you just fall in love. There’s no planning for it or scheduling it. You can’t prepare properly or make sure the timing is just right. It simply happens. And somehow, Love’s lack of consideration for life’s plans makes the journey all the better.
Daniel fell in love with Lauren the moment he met her during her visit to his hometown in Cornwall, England. He found out that she loves to dance when she tried to teach him a few swing moves in his living room, so he joined the ballroom dancing team at his university and learned how to dance before traveling to the U.S. to see her again. He spent three days bouncing around airports making his way to her hometown in Atlanta while a giant volcano shut down the European airport system. He moved to California to continue his studies in the United States, and after four years of long distance courtship with flights, phone calls, Visas, emails, oceans and miles standing in between them, he surprised Lauren with an engagement ring on the top of the gorgeous Calton Hill in Scotland.
In the end, all of the planning and coordinating and striving was all perfect. More than perfect. Because all of those miles apart and long flights and ‘thwarted’ plans have become their love story – the one that they get to tell their kids and grandkids when Love decides to jump into the mix of things for them. Daniel and Lauren have the sweet gift of looking back on these years and knowing that Love’s timing has always been perfect for them.
Daniel and Lauren chose to get married in Lauren’s hometown of Peachtree City in the suburbs of Atlanta, so Daniel’s family all flew across the pond from England for the festivities making this wedding a wonderful mix of British charm and southern hospitality. The boys wore tails and the girls wore long dresses for this black tie affair – that is, except for the ballroom dancing queen, Lauren, who wore a cocktail length gown for photos and the reception so that she and Daniel could dance a stunning choreographed ballroom number for their first dance!
The big secret – Lauren didn’t tell Daniel that she had two wedding dresses! She wore the tea length gown for their First Look, but then secretly changed into a beautiful Grecian style gown for the ceremony, making the walk down the aisle an emotional surprise for Daniel who wanted the first time he saw Lauren in her dress to be at the ceremony! What a perfect way to make the First Look AND the walk down the aisle both special moments!
We’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg with Daniel and Lauren’s wedding in Atlanta! Tomorrow, we get to show off the wonderful ceremony with Lauren’s surprise Grecian-style dress and the eye-popping reception with all of the ballroom dancing you could ever hope for! Stay tuned!
Hugs,
Erin
