There has been a lot of emotional work happening around here at Casa de Youngren. I’ve been telling friends that this is the time of year when we get to dig into the very heart of our business and turn it upside down, reconfigure it over and over again, and put it all back together. But in this kind of business, I feel like I’m turning myself upside down, reconfiguring my insides, and putting everything back together again. It’s really intense, kind of painful, and crazy exciting.
To help me process all of this intense introspective business work, I’ve been writing. A lot. I’ve had more office dates with Starbucks than I’d like to admit these past few weeks, and for some reason the sound of those grinding espresso beans and that Starbucks smell (you know the one I’m talking about – it’s a mixture of cleaner and old coffee grinds?) helps me to do my best work. In fact, maybe I should see if I’m more entertaining while sipping a tall soy chai latte…
I’m really excited about what’s to come to the bloggy blog over the next two weeks. I’ve been exploring my writing and blogging process lately (inspired by the attendees at The Photog Retreat) and am excited to share more about blogging and writing and all of the good, bad, and ugly that goes along with it. Also, we’ve got some long overdo recaps of The Photog Retreat and our time in Mexico with an amazing group of photographers that have become near and dear to our hearts.
Just as a preview, we had plenty of tequila and tacos…
Stay tuned!
Hugs,
Erin
